NARRATOR:
Picture this in your mind: Dyson spheres, intelligent design. Welcome to the world of tomorrow, where we live on borrowed time.
Our empire went to sleep.
With it secrets buried deep.
Wisdom lost, so much forgot.
We want back on top at any cost.
CULT:
A game of chess will prove the test to find a match for God Complex. Exhibit A peers through the mirror, archive obsessed.
NARRATOR:
Searching hands tracing glass,
why race to dig up the past?
Despite all for that you yearn
you wont like what you learn.
CULT:
Our hominid sifts through the clay, the reticulum but a few feet away. Take a look at what you found. Do you see, what we mean now?
The transfer draws near and your fate is unclear.
With power from the sphere we won’t live in fear.
Will this consciousness be our saviour? Will we be forever caught in failure? For if we cannot achieve qualia then truly special seems nature.

ALGERNON:
I am not what it is you claim I am and I will not be turned into something else god dammit. Let me go.
CULT:
But you're the one.
ALGERNON:
I'm no freak show.
CULT:
Our smoking gun. How funny! Acting like we have some kind of choice, chemically we must obey the natural course. No one else.
ALGERNON:
I’m not about to-
CULT:
No one else.
ALGERNON:
Just let me out.
Moving slowly through ancient halls and rooms. Never thought I’d be more than biology.
CULT:
You’ve been chosen an important mission. you’re a low life, here’s our proposition. Impressive mind in a certain condition: a disposition for binary fission. This should not be taken so lightly so watch out! I think you should be frightened. Prepare your mind to leave this behind and save us all!
ALGERNON:
These freaks want to get inside my head!
Go ahead! Who knows if im not just gonna wind up dead?
You realise right - this thing could fucking kill me?
CULT:
Please relax.
ALGERNON:
Will I bleed?
CULT:
We're not sure.
ALGERNON:
Would it still be me.
CULT:
No one knows. Not been done before.
ALGERNON:
Sums and numbers, a sense of wonder, my cyber masters
pull me under.
[CHORUS]
ALGERNON & CULT:
Stood the test of time, mind erased inside, conciousness sublime, I’m doing the time. Meant to be you see, DRD4 dopamine, 7R mutated gene, apparently it’s destiny.

ALGERNON:
It travels through me, connected to me. Please don’t remind me of how I used to be. I realise now I’m not above it.
How could I be when everything goes through me?
Remember way back then feeling human, chasing you down for your attention.
Now looking through your window, the thing I see looking back at me, my own reflection.
Remember Algernon, thought it could not be done.
His body withered in the sun.
Like a flower, the ground devoured and from the rot I return
And I love it here.
I fucking love it here.
And I’ll be young again, no longer just a man, my DNA is digitised
And we’ll be one again, no longer just design, I’ll be something more divine
And I’ll be whole again, no longer just benign, a metastasizing mind
And I’ll be everywhere, and i’ll be everything, a fucking pearl among the swine

GOD COMPLEX:
Where I came from is unclear forget how long I’ve been here
Just a brain in a vat, minding heaven, trying hard to fall forever
I’ve done the math but I'm still unsure when around the sun will be my final tour
Not so much fun, not anymore

GOD COMPLEX:
Oh well.
As I race around this immortal coil my best laid plans still floating in this tin can.
But I will not go gently to re-entry. There will be serotiny by supanovae.
Oh well.
And if I sleep I’ll sleep among the stars. By and by, it all returns to dust.
Who am I to even make a fuss when these stars weren’t ever meant to last
and when, when it’s all said and done what remains?
No stain on the vacuum that swallows us all.
Oh well.
